Please Ask for Paul is an emerging indie music project led by Marlo Smith and Joshua McCleskey. Longing to express themselves beyond comfortable orbit, PAFP is the resulting spectral equinox between two kindred spirits seeking company within their songs. Propelled by their signature moon-jeweled vocals, atmospheric guitar, and driving rhythms, PAFP explores themes ranging from human intuition to scouting routes to the great beyond.​

Joining Marlo and Joshua on this musical odyssey are bassist Sean Cox Briar and drummer Jules Stewart, each bringing their own noteworthy musical backgrounds and unique stylings.

Calamity has been writing, recording and performing folk rock with at country pop since 2013. Currently the band consists of founding members Nisha Catron (vocals/guitar), Cathryn Beeks (vocals/ukulele) and Marcia Claire (vocals/bass) along with Patric Petrie (violin) and Jules Stewart (drums). The band has multiple San Diego Music Award nominations over the years and each member brings something special to the mix. Nisha's theatrical background and comedic timing adds a texture of fun and fantasy to the show, keeping folks laughing and entertained throughout.

Cathryn will be inducted into the San Diego Music Hall of Fame in November, recognizing her years of dedication to the SD music community. Marcia is an accomplished bass player who plays with some of San Diego's most established acts. Patric Petrie, aka The Pixie, has fiddled with some of the finest, including her long time project Skelpin and such notable acts as Flogging Molly. Jules is the band's heartbeat and she keeps them grounded while keeping the audience rocking. The band boasts rich harmonies and tasty hooks that have delighted audiences with memorable originals and beloved and unique covers for over a decade.

C. Gibbs is an American Musician and Songwriter. He is also the generating force behind the bands He Arrived By Helicopter, Lucinda Black Bear, The Droves and has released projects also under the name of Motherwell Johnston, The C. Gibbs Review, The C. Gibbs Group ( Atlantic Records), C. Gibbs and The Cardia Bros., and one solo album as Christian Gibbs. He once played guitar in Modern English while studying in London and subsequently abandoned college to embark on American tours with that band. Then relocating to New York he started the post punk band Morning Glories who released three albums on Headhunter / Cargo.

Gibbs eventually released his first solo album under the name The C. Gibbs Review . Soon after that album's release Gibbs signed with Atlantic Records as The C. Gibbs Group and toured with John Cougar Mellencamp, Son Volt, Margaret Cho, Everclear and more. Along the way, he played with JG Thirlwell's Foetus, Dave Vanian ( The Damned) and eventually started Lucinda Black Bear a more orchestral outfit garnering praise in NPR, PASTE and other notable media outlets. C Gibbs also played on Broadway in the rock musical Passing Strange and was in the Spike Lee documentary of the same name. Gibbs released an album of more experimental instrumental music under the name He Arrived By Helicopter in 2018 but his latest record, "Tales from The Terramar" was released in Sept 2021.

grampadrew is an acoustic troubador bringing together diverse influences such as Joy Division, Wilco, John Prine, Crass and Hank Williams. An artist who alternates between "the fire of a street-preacher and the quiet of a grave-digger" his new album, Greatest Hits is produced by Jeff Berkley and is a who's who of prominent San Diego musicians and songwriters.

Jules will get the distinct privilege of playing with both C. Gibbs and grampadrew for this show.

As a native of low, Alex began writing music at the age of 15. Like many artists, he's navigated through countless avenues trying to find the most honest and authentic version of his sound. Once a successful formula was found, it didn't take long until he'd open for artists such as Nathaniel Rateliff, John Butler and Kenny Loggins, to name a few.

Now residing in San Diego, Alex has made his mark within that scene. In 2023, he earned a nomination from the San Diego Music Awards for 'Best Folk/Acoustic Album' with nods to his EP, 'My Notebook: Now, in 2024, Alex put another notch in the belt with a San Diego Music Award win for his acclaimed single, 'Unpromised Land.’ Furthermore, Alex has begun work on a full-length album that's expected to be released later in 2024.

Opening for Alex on this bill will be Aly Rowell and Paul Yoon.
